Steel Shingles

The Advantages Of Steel Shingles

Getting a new roof put on your house is a big investment, so it is important to consider all of your options when you decide what type of roofing material to use. Some types of roofing materials last longer than others, and this should definitely be taken into consideration. Steel shingles are growing in popularity lately.

Steel roofing shingles offer long lasting protection against many weather conditions. They are also fireproof, so you have added protection against this danger as well. They are environmentally friendly since they are mainly made from recycled material, and they can be recycled after use as well. Since you can install them over your existing roof you can also keep that material from going into a landfill. Besides this, if you get one of the types of coated steel shingles you will have energy savings as well since the coating will reflect the sun's rays and help keep your home cooler.

Although many people think that these shingles must be very heavy and require you to have a stronger support system under your roof, the modern varieties are actually very light, so this shouldn't be a worry.

There are a lot of different manufacturers of stainless steel shingles, including Decra, Metalworks, Tamko, Kasselwood, and Astonwood. If you have decided you are interested in this type of roof, you should definitely look into the options available from the different companies to see which have the best prices on these shingles, as well as the shingles that you like the best. The cost of metal shingles is higher than that of some other types of roofing, but keep in mind that these can last for fifty or more years, so you won't have to replace them any time soon. Steel is one of the less expensive options for metal shingles.

You can get steel shingles in a wide variety of colors, as well as a number of different styles. This will make it possible for pretty much everyone to find shingles that will match their home. Your roofing color does not need to be metallic, so it doesn't need to be obvious that you have metal shingles.
