Painting Aluminum Siding

Deciding Whether Or Not Painting Aluminum Siding Is For You

Many homes have aluminum house siding. As time goes on, especially in the case of older siding, the paint or finish can start to deteriorate on the siding, and something will need to be done about this. Painting aluminum siding is possible if you go about it the right way, and this can help to keep you from having to get all new siding.

The first thing you will want to do is look into the different aluminum siding manufacturers so you can determine what the current prices are for aluminum siding. You can even look into the various style options that might give you a different look, such as vertical aluminum siding. Be sure to take into account the cost of the trim and the installation as well as the cost of the aluminum siding panels themselves.

You can save some money by doing the installation yourself if you have the proper tools, such as a siding brake, and experience. Check with the different companies that sell this siding in Toronto, such as Alcoa and Reynolds, to see who has the best options. In some cases you might want to purchase new siding rather than painting aluminum siding.

Used or old aluminum siding can be painted so that you can choose from among a number of different colors and get your siding looking like new again. In order to do this, you will need to make sure that you clean your aluminum or vinyl coated aluminum siding with the proper cleaner. You might also have to scrape off any old or peeling paint, although if you clean the siding with a pressure hose that is strong enough this might take care of it. Then you will need to prime the siding before painting it. There are some special paints available just for painting aluminum siding, so you should stick with these for best results.

You can figure out how to go about painting your siding if you look on the Internet, as there are many websites that include step by step instructions. Then you can decide whether the time and effort is worth the amount of money you would save by doing this instead of getting new siding to replace your old siding.
